Right after really a bit of buying about, I bought this light for a little frame to display my miniature collectibles. General I am pleased with it. It produces a warm incandescent light with a slightly yellowish hue (I got the gold version, maybe the chrome version would be distinctive), but it's a flattering effect. Definitely a brighter and considerably more natural light than that developed by a 10-led strip I have. I would estimate that the light cast would be adequate for a picture up to approx. 34" wide by 24" tall. Construction appears to be solid, even though I've only had it for a week. And the price tag is significantly lower than numerous other incandescent picture lights.
The key downside is that installation is not as "quick" as advertised on the package. You don't want an engineering degree to install it, but you will need to have a complete set of tools, careful measurements, and some time. The directions are not extremely properly written, either. This light runs on AC power only, and you have to basically cut the AC cord to install the on/off switch yourself. I can comprehend why it is developed this way, so that you can place the switch at your preferred location on the power cable, or opt for no on/off switch at all. The installation bracket for the light can be screwed into either the wall, or the image frame. I opted for wall installation. Frame mounting would possibly only operate for substantial frames, since the light is pretty substantial in weight. Wall installation calls for precisely drilling two two" deep holes into the wall. Measure very carefully, or the light will wind up at the wrong height, off center, or crooked. When in use, the light gets hot, so make sure it is not touching anything.
For beneath $30, it is an productive and qualified seeking display light. But if you are not specifically handy with drills and tape measures, get somebody to help you.

Good light and simple to place together, just make sure the image is no larger than double the length of the light. Otherwise it won't illuminate the complete frame.
